In the early 1990s, Arimond was sentenced to 18 months probation and 45 days work-release following criminal charges related to sex abuse.

Becker

Benham

In Fall 2003, the archdiocese received an abuse complaint. He was removed from duties in 2004 after an allegation was substantiated that he repeatedly sexually abused a minor in Racine, Wisconsin, from 1976-1980.

Bistricky

A 2003 review board found credible sex-abuse allegations.

Budzynski

Budzynski's name appears on an archdiocese's list of priests fully restricted from ministry because of credible sex-abuse allegations. Has been laicized.

 
 

Peter A.

Burns

Registered sex offender. In 1992, he received nine months jail and 10 years probation for molesting a youth. In a separate case, a mother complained to police in 1987 that her son was abused by Burns during sleepovers at the rectory.

 
 

S. Joseph

Collova

A 1993 civil suit claimed one youth was abused on "hundreds of occasions" by Collova from 1980-87. Fully restricted from ministry, Collova cut ties with the Catholic Church and joined another denomination. In 2009, Chicago-based American Apostolic Church installed Collova as a bishop in Milwaukee.

Donovan

In a 1992 civil lawsuit, a woman alleged that Donovan used his position as priest to coerce her into sexual relationship from 1959-1965.

 
 

Andrew P.

Doyle

Doyle's name appears on an archdiocese list of priests fully restricted from ministry because of credible allegations of abuse.

Effinger

Accused of molesting numerous boys and girls from his first assignment to his last. Sentenced to 10 years jail in 1993 for molesting a 14-year-old boy. Died of cancer in prison in 1996.

Engel

Engel was placed on leave in April 2004 after the archdiocese learned that he was the subject of a police investigation because of child pornography on a computer.

Etzel

Furdek

Arrested in 2000 on charges of using the Internet to set up a meeting with a 14-year-old boy (actually an undercover agent). Sentenced to 15 years prison on attempted sexual assault. Served three years, paroled in 2006.

 
 

Thomas J.

Gardipee

Accused in 1992 of sexual misconduct with St. Lawrence Seminary high school students. Judge dismissed the case. Wisconsin teaching license denied. In 2009, he resigned from teaching at a private Hawaii high school.

Giannini

Publicly accused in 2006 of repeatedly abusing two male students in 1960s in Milwaukee. Indicted on two felony counts in 2006. Admitted other victims. Sentenced in 2008 to one year jail, nine years probation.

Godin

Godin resigned in 2002 due to admitted "inappropriate behavior" with a 17-year-old boy years prior when he had a drinking problem. Has been laicized.

Haas

Placed on leave in 2004 after allegations that he molested a young girl in 1977. Officially retired September 2004.

 
 

Edmund H.

Haen

Haen abused at least three men when they were youths; forced to retire in 1990. Several other victims known.

Hanser

 

 

Four brothers came forward in 1988 to say that Hanser abused them 30 years earlier. Retired in 2002, now laicized.

Herbst

Keyes

Convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a boy in 1993. Sentenced to one year jail. Died in 1998.

Knighton

In 2002, charged with sexual assault of teenage boy more than 10 years prior. Jury found him not guilty in 2003, but a review board later found allegations to be credible.

Krejci

Admitted to inappropriately touching two teenagers shortly after his ordination in 1978. Reassigned to "monitored" ministry in 1996; placed on leave again in 2002.

Allegation of abuse from 1969 became public in 2004. Kreuzer confirmed that the abuse took place during a fishing trip and involved alcohol consumption.

Krusing

Lanser

LaReau

LaReau was a Latin teacher at St. Lawrence Seminary preparatory school until his death in 1987. Accused in 1992 of performing oral sex on a 16-year-old student in the 1970s.

Leifeld

Leifeld admitted abusing at least seven victims in a civil suit deposition.

Lemanski

Lemanski has lived under supervision at a rectory close to a school for 11 years after admitting he abused a minor.

Lesniewski

As a priest and religious instructor, Lesniewski abused minor altar boys at St. Joseph's Orphanage. Lesniewski's name appears on an archdiocese list of priests fully restricted from ministry because of allegations of abuse. He died in 1996.

Massie

Massie was removed from his parish because of history of inappropriate sexual behavior with minors. Has been laicized.

Mika

Accused in 2004 of abusing a girl at a Pulaski Catholic school.

 
 

Lawrence C.

Murphy

Resigned as director of St. John School for Deaf in 1974 after complaints of abuse by students. Reassigned to parishes in Milwaukee and Superior. The Vatican failed to laicize him prior to his death in1998. Believed to have abused 200 youths.

Neuberger

A 1993 civil suit alleged Neuberger sexually abused a boy from 1964-1966. A second lawsuit alleged that Neugerger abused another boy in 1968.

 
 

Richard W.

Nichols

Nichols engaged in oral sex with a minor in 1978. A complaint was filed in 1983, and in 1985 Nichols surrendered his license to practice psychology. Nichols was barred from priestly duties then. He died in 1996 at age 63.

Nickerson

Known as "Brother Dave" while ministering in Milwaukee in 1980s, Nickerson confessed in 2007 to abusing a boy at St. Vincent De Paul school during the mid-1980s.

Nuedling

Nuedling has been accused of abuse by five individuals. He died in 1994.

 
 

John A.

O'Brien

In 2000, O'Brien pleaded no contest to fourth-degree sexual assault and was sentenced to 18 months probation, $1,000 fine, and six months psychiatric counseling for indecently touching a 17-year-old boy. Has been laicized.

 
 

Simon

Palathingal

Arrested in 2004 on charges that he sexually assaulted a young boy in Milwaukee. Sentenced to 16 years prison in 2004.

 
 

Dennis A.

Pecore

Registered sex offender. Convicted of 1987 of assault on a teenage boy. Placed on probation and ordered to serve one year in jail. In 1994, Pecore was convicted of sexually molesting his nephew from 1989-1992. Sentenced to 12 years prison.

Peters

In 2002, Peters admitted that he took graphic sexual photos of at least four teenage boys. One accused Peters of fondling him. His name appears on an archdiocese list of priests fully restricted from ministry. Has been laicized.

In 2004, an individual contacted the archdiocese with an allegation of sexual abuse dating back to the early 1980s. An archdiocese review board decided the abuse allegation was unsubstantiated and Schreiter was returned to parish ministry.

Silvestri

Silvestri's name appears on an archdiocese's list of priests fully restricted from ministry because of credible allegations of abuse. He died in 2000 at age 63.

 
 

Thomas A.

Trepanier

As of May, 2002, Trepanier faced credible allegations of past sexual abuse but was still working in active ministry. He resigned in May 2003.

 
 

Joseph

Turner

In 2002, Auxillary Bishop Sklba admitted that he believed Turner had sexually assaulted a youth in 1960s at St. Pius parish in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Turner became a military chaplain in 1966 and served two tours in Vietnam. He left the military after 10 years and returned to Wisconsin. Turner died in 2001.

Wagner

Placed on leave in 2002. Allegations surfaced in 1985 that Wagner had gotten a 15-year-old boy drunk and molested him. Now laicized.

Zimmer

Zimmer was a California priest who was given permission to operate a Christian Renewal center in Wisconsin. Woman in a 1993 suit alleged that Zimmer abused her from 1979-1980. He died in 1997.
